Facebook has jumped into the dating game. This does not mean it pairs the already made Facebook profile with other profiles. You have to manually opt in and you will only see profiles of other people who also opted in. The new feature will not let you see friends, only people who have not been friended yet.
This is an interesting feature as Facebook has cut out the middleman and gone all in. While it is true that more people than ever meet online and, 17% of marriages started with online dating.
I wonder how this will affect current dating sites such as Facebook was the easiest way to federate accounts and allows for seamless signs ups. With Facebook now being doubling as a dating service (among everything else it does), it will be interesting to see how it affects other dating services. More importantly, how they handle it.
